LIST OF PROJECTS CURRENTLY BEING UNDERTAKEN
- Strengthening Climate Resilience in the Kafue Sub-Basin (SCRiKA) Project :- Aimed at strengthening the adaptive capacity of rural communities to better respond to effects of climate change. It is implemented together with other Government Organisations forming the Project Implementation Team.
- Enhancing Local Government Capacity for Development:- The project seeks to contribute to the implementation of the Decentralisation Policy (2002) and the 7th National Development Plan (2017)
- Social Protection /Single Window Program:- The project aims at improving coordination of all social protection activities in the District by bring all stakeholders together.
His Excellency President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu has today launched the 26 million dollar Chiansi Irrigation Scheme in Kafue. The irrigation canal will be constructed in Chanyanya under Magoba ward and once completed, the canal which will tap water from Kafue River will supply water to 1,000 small scale farmers in the area, 38 commercial farmers with Centre pivots including ZNS wheat farm which is currently cultivating 60 hectors of wheat. The Chiansi Irrigation Project in Chanyanya area of Kafue District is set to employ 400 local people at the first phase of construction. The project is expected to be fully operational in the year 2020 and it will have the capacity to irrigate 3,800 hectors of land. The irrigation canal bulk funding is funded by the Netherlands Republic and another proportion from local commercial farmers. At completion, the area will have a processing mill plant for wheat and other irrigated crops.
.Rehabilitation of the council owned community radio station
The community radio station is being rehabilitated by the works department with wall,tiling,plumbing and carpentry works at 100% completion and overall percentage completion at 66%.
6.Installation of Solar Powered Traffic lights
Kafue Town Council intends to install solar powered traffic signals at the intersection of kafue road and president drive, which will help prevent the occurrence of road traffic accidents there.
