Kafue district is one of the Six (6) districts in Lusaka Province with an area of approximately 4,471 square kilometres. The district lies between 339 metres and 1455 metres above sea level and it is located 40km south of Lusaka City, the Capital of Zambia. It is bordered in the north by all the Five districts in Lusaka province, namely Lusaka, Chilanga, Chongwe, Rufunsa and Luangwa. In the south it is bordered by the Kafue River which constitutes the provincial boundary of Lusaka Province with Southern Province.
