The Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is a government budget allocation mechanism that channels a specific portion of the national budget to constituencies to finance development projects such as school facilities, health clinics, and water supply systems.
The Ward Development Committees (WDCs) are the first contact point between the community and the Local Authority, they are formed in each ward through an electoral process in which residents of each particular ward select representatives among themselves to vote community leaders who will represent them in the handling of affairs of community development. Ward Development Committees are the mechanism through which the decentralization policy is implemented in Zambia by ensuring that communities at ward level decide their development priorities leading to improved and responsive service delivery
The WDC is a nonpartisan committee with the sole purpose of steering the government developmental agenda at the grassroots and closer to the community. Members are elected in to office through an elective process overseen by the Local Authority. Details of eligibility and functions are listed
The Constituency Development Fund Committee is responsible for receiving the list from the Ward Development Committee within the Constituency, reviewing the project list received and recommending to a Provincial Local Government Officer a proposed project list; and receiving and considering annual reports and returns from the constituency
Application for any category is made through the WDC where you reside. Application forms can be obtained either via the Local Authority website, offices or in the various WDCs in your wards
Kafue district has a population of 129, 574 with Chisankana ward and Shabusala wards with the highest population compared to the other 16 wards in the district. In comparison to other districts in Lusaka Province the population of Kafue District is second to only Lusaka City and accounted for 10 percent of the total provincial population size
